Holy Week Prayers: Thursday

Mark 15:1-20
God of peace, God of justice, I confess the violence of my heart. I see wrong doing and I want someone punished. I am hurt and I want others to hurt. The thrill of the crowd’s urging to violence and war throb like a drumbeat in my heart. For every pain, someone should suffer. For every injustice someone should pay. Yet the Prince of Peace stood mute before his accusers, who chose Barabbas, a man of violence, over him. Heal my violent heart, O God, that I may stand with Jesus and choose another way. Amen.
